Fear of Meeting One-on-One With My Professor ....or FMOOWMP

Office hours. The dreadful words many students hate to hear. I don't know about you but the thought of having to go to office hours really scared me, and it sometimes still does. Believe me, I tried avoiding it but eventually there was no way around it and I had to go. Turns out it isn't as bad as everyone thinks. Professors are so friendly. They just want to help you succeed even if it doesn't seem like it. I strongly encourage everyone to take advantage of this. Professors are making time for YOU, and it especially helps when you have a two hour lecture or lab that has 50 or more students. Office hours aren't just for getting help, they are really helpful for getting to know your professors. You may think this is just being a suck up, but professors know that, and they actually do enjoy getting to know you. It may be helpful when you need letters of recommendation, or just need advice within this field. Remember that professors were once students just like you are now, so they have plenty of advice and suggestions. Don't be afraid to use this resource, not many do but it can really be useful.
