In a Senior survey conducted by the Department of Health Sciences for graduating SST seniors we get an insight into the process of applying to Graduate School. The survey was sent online to students who were enrolled in the Speech Sciences & Technology capstone course both in person and online. Out of 71 students, 21 responded for a return of 30%. The questions are as follows:

70% yes, 30% no
Have you been hired as an SLPA?
10% yes, 90% no
Did you apply to Graduate School?
45% yes, 55% no
How many graduate Programs did you apply to?
One= 45%, Two= 11%, Five= 11%, More than five= 33%
Into how many Graduate Programs were you accepted?
One= 37%, Two= 25%, Waiting to hear= 38%
How many Graduate Programs placed you on a waiting list?
One= 60%, Four= 20%, Five= 20%
Did you get into your first choice Graduate Program?
37% yes, 63% no
Into what Graduate School disciplines did you apply?
Speech Pathology= 87%, Audiology= 13%
How many of the programs to which you applied asked questions regarding your clinical experience at some point during the application process?
All= 25%, About 75%= 12%, About 50%= 13%, About 25%= 25%, None= 25%
What do you think were the most important factors in your getting accepted into the Graduate Schools that you have been accepted to?
