Technical Writing (reports)

First of all, you may be asking what Technical writing is. Technical Writing is a type of writing where the author is writing about a particular subject that requires direction, instruction, or explanation as stated by Google. This writing is very much used in the Speech Pathology realm because we use it when writing reports that are particular to each patient and case. The goal of this is to produce useful and accurate information geared to specifically targeted audiences in order to enable a set of actions on the part of the audience in pursuit of a defined goal. for example with treatment plans and medical reports, as Speech Pathologists, our job is to make sure that we write down everything we observe exactly how it is because if we don't write it down, it never happened in the eyes of the people who are seeing the papers.
A few tips for technical reports are:
Always proofread, and make sure you are using proper grammar as well as punctuations
Check for any misspelled words
Avoid writing all your reports in a conversational manner
Include everything you did in the session, and make sure it is all in chronological order
Make sure to write in third person
Avoid using contractions (didn't, can't)
