ASHA is the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. It is the national professional, scientific, and credentialing association for 191,500 members and affiliates who are audiologists; speech-language pathologists; speech, language, and hearing scientists; audiology and speech-language pathology support personnel; and students. Audiologists specialize in preventing and assessing hearing and balance disorders as well as providing audiologic treatment, including hearing aids. Speech-language pathologists identify, assess, and treat speech and language problems, including swallowing disorders. ASHA holds a national convention each years where various SLPs and Audiologists gather and talk about the research they have been doing or any new discoveries since last years' conference. If you want to know more you can ask Dr. Culbertson or go online : http://www.asha.org/events/convention/.

The ASHA website ( http://www.asha.org/) provides information for students, teachers/ faculty, SLPs, and Audiologists. Aside from that, it also provides career opportunities/options, certification information, publications, events, and research.
