The National Student Speech Language Hearing Association is a club located on many college and university campuses. NSSLHA (National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association) is the national organization for graduate and undergraduate students interested in the studies of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

The NSSLHA purpose is to:

  1. Encourage professional interest among college and university students in the study of normal and disordered human communication behavior.

  2. Assist college and university departments and local organizations interested in speech, hearing and language behavior and disorders.

  3. Provide professional information.

  4. Provide a vehicle for student representation in matters of professional concern.

If you attend NAU, NSSLHA meetings are typically held every Tuesday at 5:30 PM in Room 321 in the Health Professions Building (No. 66). However, with changing schedules due to holidays or vacation breaks, meetings are frequently rescheduled. If you would like to attend a meeting, please contact the NSSLHA advisor, Dr. Mary Harmon (mary.harmon@nau.edu), or check out the NSSLHA board on the third floor of Health Professions.

If you attend another University or College, I really recommend looking into this club, the ASHA page has more information on joining or creating a chapter. http://www.asha.org/nsslha/

Not only is it a great club to be a part of but it looks great on Grad School Applications as well as job resumes!
