What is Speech-Language Pathology? Here is the definition as ASHA describes it : Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults. This field is tons of work, and stress just like any other. However, the difference is that within this major/ career you get to help others and really make a difference in someone's life. this major is great of you enjoy the feeling of giving back to other's and being able to make a difference. However, if you think that this major is for you and you're still conflicted, I urge you to volunteer or go see what an SLP or SLPA does. This will help you get a better understanding of the work you'll be doing as well as the types of cases and people you may be working with. Keep in mind that this major requires effort, writing, and communication. It may be hard at times but many careers are. If you enjoy this field and work then consider it to not be work, but instead something you love doing. Just like people say, " Do what you love and you'll never work another day of your life."
